Quote from the "Son of a Surrogate" Blog

It looks to me like I was bought and sold. You can dress it up with as many pretty words as you want. You can wrap it up in a silk freaking scarf. You can pretend these are not your children. You can say it is a gift or you donated your egg to the IM. But the fact is that someone has contracted you to make a child, give up your parental rights and hand over your flesh and blood child. I dont care if you think I am not your child, what about what I think! Maybe I know I am your child. When you exchange something for money it is called a commodity.

Connecting with Fellow Donor Conceived:

Worldwide Donor Conceived People Network
A group EXCLUSIVELY for donor conceived people (including those born of surrogacy) around the world.
We also ask for you to write a brief introduction in the group within a week of joining us, otherwise you may be removed from the group. We are here to support each other, but also want to ensure this group is kept strictly for DC people around the world :) Cheers!

DonorChildren is the first and only donor-community social network.  We are not about membership fees that expire and create communicative barriers for making biological and community connections.  We are about being FREE and helping people connect in the community and we embrace that it is a collaborative effort.  We are also about creating an organized community voice that can create legislative change.  Please explore the site and utilize the tools we have built.  Check out our Resources page for lots of useful information.  Thank you in advance for tolerating the ads, when they are clicked we stay open.  If you purchase a DNA test please go through our ads to help support the site staying up and FREE.

Mission Statement:
The Anonymous Us Project is a safety zone for real and honest insights regarding third party reproduction (sperm & egg donation, and surrogacy). We aim to share the experiences of voluntary and involuntary participants in these new reproductive technologies, while preserving the dignity and privacy for story-tellers and their loved ones. All stories are contributed anonymously because "anonymity in reproduction hides the truth, but anonymity in story-telling helps reveal the truth."

Donor Conception Postcard Project

"The Project is an experiment to gather postcards representing varied views, thoughts, feelings, comments regarding the use of Donor Conception."

DNA Testing Sites:

Films about Egg Donation, Sperm Donation & Surrogacy:
 Anonymous Father's Day
"Thousands of donor-conceived people have a deep longing to know who they belong to, where they come from, and who they look like. What is it like to grow up not knowing who your biological father is or if you have any siblings? What is it like to find out that the man you thought was your dad is not your biological father, that your true biological father donated his sperm and is known only by a number? How does it impact your self-perception, the choices you make, and your view of life and the world? Donor-conceived people are demanding answers to these basic questions about their origins, their lives, and their identities."

"The infertility industry in the United States has grown to a multi-billion dollar business. What is its main commodity? Human eggs. Young women all over the world are solicited by ads—via college campus bulletin boards, social media, online classifieds—offering up to $100,000 for their “donated” eggs, to “help make someone’s dream come true.” But who is this egg donor? Is she treated justly? What are the short- and long-term risks to her health? The answers to these questions will disturb you . . . "

 Breeders: A Subclass of women?
"Surrogacy is fast becoming one of the major issues of the 21st century—celebrities and everyday people are increasingly using surrogates to build their families. But the practice is fraught with complex implications for women, children, and families. What is the impact on the women who serve as surrogates and on the children who are born from surrogacy? In what ways might money complicate things? What about altruistic surrogacy done for a family member or close friend? Is surrogacy a beautiful, loving act or does it simply degrade pregnancy to a service and a baby to a product? Can we find a middle ground? Should we even look for one?"

Please help consider the rights of 'donor' conceived people - read and share this blog."

Donor Conceived Perspectives: Voices from the Offspring (12 ‘donor’ conceived from around the globe)
"Have you ever wondered whatever happens to the children created by sperm donors? We are adult donor conceived people from all over the world, and these are our stories. We are females and males aged 17 to 65, and come from three continents, with varying views towards our conception, but we all share one thing in common...our biological father was a sperm donor."

Donor conceived or just a child

Donated Generation (‘donor’ conceived man from Australia)
"Thoughts of donor conception practices from a donor offspring whose views changed dramatically once he had children of his own. This event has lead me on a quest to find my true identity, heritage, family health history and genetic relations (both donor and siblings), for myself and for my children."

Journey Into the Bubble (a ‘donor’ conceived woman from the UK – who passed away a few years ago)
"... I had to face this if I was to survive but my first task was to get into deep remission through chemotherapy and radiotherapy. However, when seeking a donor I found out that my background was not exactly what I thought it was and that I was donor conceived. As my DNA is unusual and most donor conceived adults are denied access to their records, I was in for a voyage of discovery...."

Stork Unmasked ('donor' conceived woman from Quebec written in French)

Offspring Girl - "This blog is about my journey to find my biological father."

Who do you think you are? (‘donor’ conceived woman from Australia – who recently passed away)

Primal Wound - Nancy Verrier
"The Primal Wound: Understanding the Adopted Child", by Nancy Verrier, is a challenging and courageous work. A book which adoptees call their "bible," it is a must read for anyone connected with adoption: adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents, therapists, educators, and attorneys. In its application of information about perinatal psychology, attachment, bonding, and loss, "The Primal Wound" clarifies the effects of separation from the birthmother on adopted children. In addition, it gives adoptees, whose pain has long been unacknowledged or misunderstood, validation for their feelings, as well as explanations for their behavior. As one adoptee said, "Only one thing has caused me more pain and damage than the existence of the primal wound: the world's insistence that it does not exist."

The Anonymous US Project - Alana S. Newman
"Anonymity in donor conception hides the truth but anonymity in story-telling helps reveal it.
The Anonymous Us Project is a safety zone for real and honest opinions about reproductive technologies and family fragmentation. We aim to share the experiences of voluntary and involuntary participants in these technologies, while preserving the dignity and privacy for story tellers and their loved ones.
The Anonymous Us Project aims to fill out the conversation on reproductive technologies. The hope is that it will inspire more truth and transparency and help share healthier families and happier people."
